The power of prayer
As a church we put great emphasis on the importance of prayer. Jesus shared the importance of prayer in the Sermon on the Mount – which is where we get the Lord’s prayer – and to pray confidently that God hears all who turn to him.
We encourage the importance of your own regular personal prayer life. Coming to the Lord with both your joys and troubles is an indication of a relationship with Jesus built on a trust on the saving message of the gospel.
How about making prayer a priority in your family life? At St John’s we believe that everyone, regardless of age, can have an understanding of the importance of prayer in all the things we do.
Church events
On the first Wednesday of each month we hold a prayer gathering at the Church Centre where we come together as a church and spend an hour praying – sometimes as a group of up to 40 people, sometimes dividing into smaller groups. We may be led from the front to pray on a specific topic, or be encouraged to share concerns we bring to the meeting that we may choose to share for prayer with others at the meeting.
Everyone is welcome to our prayer meetings – in fact we also stop our weekly youth Bible studies to encourage our young people to come along and join in.
We also spend time in prayer at all services we do, and encourage prayer before and after every event that we run, knowing that everything we do is for His glory.
