Activities for young people in years 9-13
Eureka is a Jesus-loving, Bible-centred, grace-filled youth group for young people in years 9-13. We meet at St John’s Church and other locations throughout the week for lots of different activities.
Our aim is that in all the activities we run for Eureka, we’ll meet to have FUN. By FUN, we’ll have a great time, but we also mean that we
F – Find out about Jesus: who He is and what He has done!
U – Understand Jesus’ importance in today’s world.
N – Navigate life together to support and encourage each other, and to reach out to others.
Eureka activities
Eureka are invited to come along to Sunday services, youth cell groups (bible studies) and our Friday youth group.
Sunday services
On Sundays we stay in with the rest of the congregation. We encourage you to come along to both the morning and the evening services if you are able! We also promote getting involved in helping with services where you can – in the band, on the sound desk or helping serving coffee – it’s a great example of biblical service.
Cell groups
For those in Eureka who want to know even more about their awesome Creator, Cell Groups are the place to be! This is an evening Bible study that runs every Wednesday (except the first in the month) from 7:30pm to 9:15pm where we can dig into the Bible, ask questions in a relaxed environment and encourage and pray for one-another.
Cell groups are often split into one group for boys and another for girls to help us chat about lots of different subjects and topics comfortably. Currently, however, we are all together, meeting at Jon Mayer’s house (7 Bracken Way). We aim to arrive at 7:30pm, finishing our discussions around 9:00pm and chilling out afterwards for a while until around 9:15pm.
The sorts of topics can vary from term to term. One term we may be looking at a Bible overview, the next digging deeper into one of the gospels, and the next looking at Christian responses to difficult life issues such as idolatry or pornography. We also have a time of prayer where we bring issues that we’re facing to God, as well as thank Him for all the amazing things we enjoy.
Eureka @ The Drop
Parties, pubs and puking-up is what some may deem a “good” Friday night but they are all so overrated! What’s the alternative? Eureka @ The Drop!
Come along and find out about who Jesus is and what He has done. It’s the best news you will hear, ever! It runs every Friday in term time between 7:30pm and 9:15pm
On a typical evening you can…
- Hear why Jesus is greater than anything, or anyone, else.
- See if you can beat your mates in pool, table tennis, PS4.
- Have a nice cup of tea and some yummy toast (with maybe a bit of juicy jam!) – or spend all your pocket money at the tuck shop!
- Enjoy just chilling out and chatting to people.
- Play some group games that will test your physical and mental prowess!
Get down to St John’s Church Centre, come with an open mind and a friendly attitude, and you will fit right in, whether you’re a Christian or not!
